The Next Time You Pray, Pray For This

When I was in third grade, I went to St. Louis Catholic School.

My teacher was Mrs. Stenvall. She’s the first person to ever really put me onto country music. I’ll tell you that country music has some of the best lyrics ever -- those country songwriters are able to paint a picture with their words.

When we’d have homework time, she’d play Garth Brooks’ No Fences album. The entire class would sing along to every song as we worked on our homework time. It’s one of my favorite memories of elementary school.

What Momo Taught Me About Co-Creating with God

TA has been one of my best friends since we first met in junior high.

We instantly bonded during teen night at DV8. Our family would drop us off super early and we’d be some of the only kids there. Out of sheer boredom, we made up a game called, “I Bet You A Penny.” We would watch the entrance and say, “I bet you a penny that the next person who walks in is wearing a striped shirt.” We would literally spend hours doing this until more people got there and the club got hype.

Our stories are very similar because our grandparents played a very significant role in our upbringing. His grandma, Momo, was the sweetest lady you ever met. She always greeted everyone who stopped by their house with a smile and “Are you hungry? I made some food.” Oh, man, could Momo cook. My mouth waters thinking about her enchiladas.

LaTisha’s Answer: When it comes to my career, everything has been an act of God. Nothing that I ever tried to make happen on my own ever popped off. It was only when I surrendered the issue to God and kept believing that He’d come thru for me did it happen.

On Monday, I told ya’ll about the story of how I got my start in music. I ended up working for Sergio for about three years. About a year into it, the company was purchased by Univision Music Group. Two years later, Univision Music Group was purchased by Universal Music. It was a very uncertain time for all of us because we didn’t know if we would have a job or not.
