My #1 Tip For Making Affirmations A Daily Part Of Your Life

Let’s face it: when you start your affirmations practice, you very quickly realize that you’ve got your work cut out for you. For every positive thought that you think on purpose such as, “I deserve to live a life I love,” you’ve literally got a gazillion negative ones, such as, “You’re not enough and you never will be,” screaming at you.

How to Replace Negative Self-Talk with Loving Self-Talk

Self-love is a lifelong journey.

I say journey because it really is a traversing of the self. You’ll find yourself in your own version of the Odyssey and the Iliad. You’ll be faced with circumstances, people and things that reveal to you all of the places inside of you that need your attention, healing and self-love. You will be challenged to examine and let go of any belief that doesn’t serve your highest good. You’ll be pushed outside of your comfort zone and asked to see things from a different perspective (and not the same rabbit hole you frequent day in and day out).

Standing in the Gap: Choosing Self-Love Over Self-Bashing

Real talk, HB: you are the most important person in your life.

I’m serious.

You are the vehicle thru which your entire life is lived. You are the only person in your life that will be there from the very beginning until the very end. You are the person who is with you as you stand atop life’s mountains and you are the person who comforts you when you are in the depths of life’s valleys. You are the person who bears the brunt of your negative thinking and self-sabotage. You are the one who is affected by years of chronic stress and family drama. You are the only person in your life who knows 100% what it’s like to be you.

A Quick Guide to Self-Love: Six Practical Ways to Treat Yourself With Loving Kindness

I think one of the reasons self-love is a tricky concept is because there is a huge disconnect between thought and action.

We think all the time, “I want to love myself more,” but then we wonder how it would actually look like in our lives. Do we just recite, “I love myself” a million times a day? Do we give ourselves a big, bear hug and call it a day? Send ourselves flowers at work? What do we actually do to introduce self-love into our everyday lives?

Hack: Self-Love is Just Like Gardening

Back in September, Lyric and I took Mama Terry to Magnolia Table for her birthday.

We had a fantastic time. For me, there is nothing more precious than to see my two little ladies, the woman who brought me into this world and the baby who made me a mama, together. I am so very grateful for the light they shine so brightly into my life.

And So It Is: How to Manifest Magic in Your Relationship

“He just doesn’t get it.”

My heart cringed for my beautiful client, Lisa.

“LaTisha, I’m doing all the work to keep this relationship together and I am exhausted. Then I look over at him and he is unbothered, like there is no problem. He is perfectly fine with the way things are. I feel like I’m drowning. I’m reaching out for a lifeline and getting nothing. What do I do?”

100 Signs That You Don't Love Yourself (Take the Quiz Right Now!)

Real talk: we go to great lengths to make ourselves “lovable.”

We lose 30 pounds, change our hair color, read self-help books, try to appear interesting and beautiful so that others will see our worth and love us.

We do this because we secretly believe that, if other people, especially our significant others, love us, then all of our issues will magically disappear.

After all, love is the reason we’re here, right? The truth: yes and no.

What You Need to Know About Self-Compassion

The older I get, the more I realize that I don’t know shit about life.

I’m serious.

Think about it: even if you are the most knowledgeable astrophysicist in the world, you only know a small fraction of all there is to know about astrophysics … and you probably know a lot.

Why It's Important to Be Authentically You

A friend of mine once said to me, “Don’t worry, Tish. You’re someone’s cup of tea.”

We were talking about my endeavor of scaling my life coaching practice. I was in my head, worrying about whether or not there was space for me in this industry and if anyone would actually want to work with me or learn from me.

Cut It Out. Please and Thank You.

Do me a favor.

Stop letting fear run the show.

You live in a world where there are literally an infinite number of possible outcomes and you are only focusing on two: your earth shattering worst case scenario and your elusive best case scenario. You stress yourself out to no end with the first one and you use the second one as a reminder that you’re not worthy.

The Truth About Feedback

After I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training, I signed up for an additional training opportunity because I wanted to keep on learning and improving my teaching.

During my training, we would often have to practice teach in front of our peers. This way our teachers could provide us feedback on our teaching and give us ways to improve.

One day, when it was my turn to teach, I had a meltdown. As I was teaching, my teacher called out to me, “Just be yourself.”

I was puzzled.
