Let’s face it: when you start your affirmations practice, you very quickly realize that you’ve got your work cut out for you. For every positive thought that you think on purpose such as, “I deserve to live a life I love,” you’ve literally got a gazillion negative ones, such as, “You’re not enough and you never will be,” screaming at you.Read More
Self-love is a lifelong journey.
I say journey because it really is a traversing of the self. You’ll find yourself in your own version of the Odyssey and the Iliad. You’ll be faced with circumstances, people and things that reveal to you all of the places inside of you that need your attention, healing and self-love. You will be challenged to examine and let go of any belief that doesn’t serve your highest good. You’ll be pushed outside of your comfort zone and asked to see things from a different perspective (and not the same rabbit hole you frequent day in and day out).Read More
“He just doesn’t get it.”
My heart cringed for my beautiful client, Lisa.
“LaTisha, I’m doing all the work to keep this relationship together and I am exhausted. Then I look over at him and he is unbothered, like there is no problem. He is perfectly fine with the way things are. I feel like I’m drowning. I’m reaching out for a lifeline and getting nothing. What do I do?”Read More
My bonus son, James, is an amazing kid.
He is funny, kind, creative, and silly. James loves to draw and ask lots of questions. He also tries to answer those questions and I’m always amazed by his answers. We laugh a lot and he reminds me not to take myself and everything else so seriously (which I have a tendency to do).
When I first met James, we struggled. We were trying to find our flow and get to know each other. We struggled especially when it came to one of my favorite things in the entire world: food.Read More
I always knew that I wanted to be in the music business.
My earliest memories are of me sitting on my swingset in the backyard of my grandmother’s home in Waco, Texas and singing my little heart out. I would make up songs and sing them all day long. My favorite cartoon was Jem. During the summertime, I’d stay up all night watching music video stations like MTV, VH1, BET, and CMT (back when they actually played music videos) and I’d also listen to the Quiet Storm on Dallas’ R&B and Hip Hop station, K104. I’d spend hours making my own mixtapes, carefully crafting the tracklisting and waiting for what seemed like an eternity for specific songs to play on the radio.
Those were definitely different times back then, Honey Bunny!Read More
I flirted with the idea of starting an affirmations practice for years before I actually did it.
I learned about the power of positive thinking and positive self-talk in ninth grade from my Trigonometry teacher. However, I didn’t really learn what an affirmation was until many years later when I was living in Miami At the time, I was working in the music business and trying out pretty much anything that I thought would uplevel my life, including ashtanga yoga and vegetarianism.Read More
